Requirements for the State of Colorado

Dental Radiology and CPR certifications are included in the basic 8 Saturday Dental Assisting class.  We also offer both subjects as stand alone courses for those who may need refresher certifications in compliance with Colorado dental regulations. Under Rule XV, of the 1993 Dental Practice Act, states that all unlicensed dental personnel must be at least 18 years of age and have successfully completed minimum safety education and training for operating machine sources of ionizing radiation and administering such radiation to patients. Our Radiology Certification curriculum meets the revised, updated guidelines set forth in 2018 by the Colorado Dental Association.

Students who complete the Academy for Dental Assisting Careers Dental Radiology Course will receive a certificate stating they have completed all such requirements.

CPR Course

Courses in CPR are administered by trained professionals and/or Emergency Medical Technicians who hold certifications through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and the State of Colorado instructor through the American Heart Association.  These classes include instruction on the use of an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim in the event of cardiac arrest.  The certificate of CPR/AED for a professional rescuer/healthcare provider is valid for 2 years.
